Can a G4 laptop be set up tp playback audio from audiodesk out the headphone jack, or better yet out of a VX Pocket PCI card? I'd love to be able to work on mixes or mastering on the road or in hotels without the 896 hooked up to it.

Also, can't you bounce to a AIFF file instead of mono or duel mono?

Dunno the answer to the first question, but for the second, you need to bounce the file as a split stereo file, and then export that sound file as an AIFF. I use DP3, so it may be a tad different, but that's how MOTU does it.

You can edit with the built in headphones as long as you're in 16/44.1 resolution. Anything other than that, you need a card, or the 896 for playback. In your hardware setup, basics menu, see if the PCI card is recognized as an optioin.
If not, try this. From the Sound Contol Menu, set the output to the PCI card. Then see if AudioDesk's Hardware Setup can recognize the card. If the only way the card can be utilized is through the SoundManager, than I think you're stuck with 16/44.1 resolution for editing. Sorry, I don't have my CPU up and running at this moment, or I'd confirm my hypothesis.
