View Full Version : New Rode NT1A Vs. the discontinued NT1

Has anyone heard the new Rode NT1A? How does it compare to the now discontinued NT1? I was considering buying an NT1 but now am thinking I should wait until some reviews come in on the new version. Any thoughts on this? I know the basic differences (lower self noise, new finish) but has anyone actually heard it? The new mic comes with the shockmount, making any deals I've found on the older Mic about an even price match to the new version. I'm purchasing this mic as a starter for a mic locker for a home project studio. I'll mostly be recording independent bands as well as accoustic guitar arrangements but am looking for versatility in my mics. Current mics I have are SM58/57s and an AT3035 (which, by the way, comes with a very user friendly shockmount, for what that is worth). I'm also considering a Studio Projects C1 based on solid reviews. However, I've heard the C1 is a much better vocal mic than an instrument mic, and thought perhaps the NT1 would better serve my need for versatility at the moment. All thoughts, suggestions or corrections are much welcomed.

Thank You,

Andrew
