View Full Version : collaborate over the net?
I actually record on a Yamaha 2816, not my PC, but am interested in learning how to collaborate with a friend over the net. I've never used MP3 in my life, so am admittedly naive and behind the times here. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can learn the best way of doing this? Do I just compress WAV files somehow and attached them to emails? How do other people do this?
Thanks for any advice!

Most people's email can't handle very large attachments.
You could send them via one of the many instant messenger programs.
Or you could both set up password protected shared folders on a file sharing network, there are several Gnutella clients that can do this. You could also post them to
a directory on a website and password protect it. .Mac accounts can do this with the homepage function, but you have to be on a mac to do that page layout...once it's up a mac or pc user can put or pull files down if they have the password. (www.mac.com)
I'd keep your music in .wav file to avoid some of the degradation that come w/ compressing them into .mp3's. You can always .tar or .zip the files when you shoot them over the network to make them smaller.
