Heya,

I've been using a pair of Event 20/20bas monitors for almost a decade. They were unfortunately damaged during a move. I'm thinking I'd like to spend a bit over the replacement cost and give one of the oldest and most important parts on my studio a bit of an upgrade.

I started out looking at Mackie MR8s or Event TR8XLs. The TR8s didn't seem to have a lot of good reviews and as much as I like Mackie for live/club sound, I'd rather have the HR824s but they're a tad pricey for me.

So I looked up a little higher in price from my old Events and settled on either the ADAM A7s or the Dynaudio BM5As. I'd love some input on the subject. I'm leaning toward the A7s right now. I'm in the middle of a deployment in Iraq at the moment, but I hope to be able to give both or other sets of similar prices monitors a good listening to before I make my final decision this fall.

Being in the military, I move around fairly often and haven't had a chance to set my studio up *well* at any of my previous living spaces. So another thing I'm looking for is a quality condenser mic for vocals that doesn't require much if any isolation from my MacPro's fans in the same room.

I've been eyeballing some of the cheaper Audio-Technica condenser (2020 and 2035) mic's. I have an Audix OM-5 at the moment, but it's getting a little worse for wear from age and live gigs back in the day. I'm familiar with the AT 4040 and 4050 and they both love to pick up room noise from 15 feet away. So those wouldn't work for me sadly.
