Hi,
I'm about to buy a new pair of in-ear sound isolating headphones. I'm looking for the best balance "sound quality / sound isolation" in the same price range ($80 - $120). Can you recommend among the following models, or add a new model to the list (same price range please)?:
- Shure SE110
- Shure SE210
- Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3
- Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4
- Etymotic Research ER6i
Many thanks!

Hey,
I think you should check these out http://freqonline.com/controlfreq.htm they're fully custom, and sound fantastic. These start at $99, and I have the tripple driver version which I am very happy with. For $99, you'd be getting the single driver addition.
If you have any questions let me know, let them know Steve Perry sent you.

Thank you! I checked them out, and it looks like a great option... but any thoughts on the models I posted?

Of the models, the Ultimate Ears Super fi 4 is going to be your best option. However, they're all universal models, and they tend get a little loose in your ears while you perform.
With a custom, you get full isolation, and as a result better comfort and and sound. And the stage volume is really improved.

I tried a couple of Ultimate ears sets, couldn't get them in my ears enough to seal out the ambient noise, and get proper bass response (no good seal, no bass) The Etymotics are great, and I have a pair of Westone UM1... The Westones are great for about $110.00, and take any ear tips that will go on the Sure in ears, and you can do custom molds too.
