Pro Tools Le and Laptop

I'm planning on making a major purchase on a g4 titanium book and I would like to run the Digi001...Now...I know the laptop doesn't have PCI slots but is there a converter type box that can convert PCI to Firewire? I need a mobile studio! But I love macs and pc's just give me too much of a headache when handling audio. Also, I'm a Pro Tools engineer...yea I know...why don't i get a hd 3...PRICE! Besides I'm gonna be using this rig for editing audio...and possible running midi. Do you think I would even need the 800MHZ g4 laptop or can I just run what I wanna do on a cheaper mac laptop? Magma 2 Slot CardBus PCI Expansion System

The Magma 2 Slot CardBus PCI Expansion System and Apple Titanium PowerBook G4 are now Digidesign approved with the Digi 001

System Details:

Computer: Apple Titanium PowerBook G4, 256MB RAM, OS 9.1
Chassis: Magma 2-Slot CardBus chassis, Model CB2S with the ATTO ExpressPCI UL2S SCSI HBA
Digidesign Hardware/Software: Digi 001 with Pro Tools LE 5.1 or higher
Hard Drives: - 1 or 2 Digidesign approved SCSI hard drives
Track Count:

Digi 001 with Pro Tools LE 5.1 or higher — Support for up to 24 tracks of playback and record
Track count is based on tests using 2 hard drives with 24 tracks of 24-bit/48kHz audio with 300ms edits across all tracks.
IDE/ATA Hard Drives

EIDE drives have not been qualified with this configuration.
Firewire Hard Drives

Additional Requirements:

Mac OS 9.1 required

PowerBook G4 400 MHz and 500 MHz models require Mac OS 9.1 (included with PowerBook G4)
OS X is not supported with Pro Tools
SCSI HBA Card required for 24 track performance:

The following SCSI HBA card is qualified with the Apple Titanium PowerBook G4/Magma configuration:

ATTO ExpressPCI Single-Channel Ultra2/WIDE UL2S

The Magma 2 Slot Expansion System is available in two models. Model #CB2S includes the ATTO ExpressPCI Single-Channel Ultra2/WIDE UL2S model Ultra2 SCSI controller with internal and external connector.
Magma Model #CB2 has no SCSI controller and is not approved for use with the Digi 001 without the addition of the ATTO ExpressPCI Single-Channel Ultra2/WIDE UL2S.
Atto Software & Settings

ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.3.2 or higher with Synch Transfer Rate set to 20 (10) and PCI Burst Rate set to 32 bytes
Note: Mac OS 9.2 requires ATTO ExpressPro-Tools v2.7 or higher, available from www.attotech.com/software or Digidesign/Support/Downloads/Utilities
External Floppy Diskette Drive

Although not required with Pro Tools installation, an external floppy diskette drive may be required for some Plug-Ins installations. The following external USB diskette drives are currently supported:

Apple's revised USB support allows for booting from a USB drive, therefore you should not boot up your system with an authorization disk inserted in the USB Drive.
