So, what are most people using in order to get the audio OUT of their Gigastudio-dedicated PC and into their Mac or other external recording devices...? The vast majority of fw or usb or pci audio interfaces seem to be dedicated to inputs, not outputs. They're all about recording. I feel like I'd be wasting money on these units, using only 10% of their intended capability, because I'll just be using the Giga PC as an instrument... The Mac does the recording... So it's only the outputs that I care about.
The ideal unit would have some balanced and/or digital OUTS, Midi I/O, and be GSIF 2 compatible. Few have all 3.
But I find it staggering that Tascam's FW and USB interfaces mostly only have a L/R RCA output, yet they recommend these for use with Giga. Not only that but the brick-and-mortar gear outlets are no longer stocking Tascam's FW control surface products. Are they being discontinued?
