 I just purchased the new dual g4 and dp3 from motu. I have 756 mb ram and 69.2gig of free hard drive space. When I try to install the dp3 I get the error message that there is not enough hd space to do the install. Can anyone help me?

Do you have Virtual Memory on? If so, turn it off.

When you go to install DP3 choose "Custom Install" from the box in the upper left.
Then click on the triangle for DP3 that brings up a list of seperate parts to install.
Check everything except for "extras"
Click install. Everything should work fine from this point on. After installation is complete, you can do another custom installation, this time only installing the extras... if you desire.
Hope that helps.

Hello.. I have had the same exact trouble trying to install DP 3.0 on a new Mac G4, dual 1Ghz processors, 750 MB ram, 80 gig factory drive. I get the messge there is not enough space on disk to install. I was able to install it on the internal SCSI drive in the G4 and I got it to run and play the demo. When I copied DP to the 80 gig , I got the message that the disk is unauthorized to run DP. Where do we go from here? Apparently DP doesnt see my 80 Gig as an 80 Gig. My virtual memory is off. Anybody have any suggestions for a fix? thanks.... lane

Lamb, I found this at Motu's site. It might help you.
When trying to install Digital Performer, an error message may appear saying that there is not enough room on your hard drive to install the program.
The reason that this is happening is because there is a bug in the VISE installer program that DP uses. If the program sees anything over 60Gb of hard drive space, it creates a negative number in the available space indicator in the installer window.
The way around this is by doing a Custom Install and selecting everything but the "Freemidi" option. Run the installer and then run it again but this time only having the "Freemidi" option selected.
