Alesis and Sweetwater

Alesis and Sweetwater were once a great team. Alesis has produced some value conscious products with a high bang to buck ratio, which Sweetwater has gratefully sold and serviced. :) I have noticed that Alesis is not particularly expedient at providing updated software for their products, though. The ADAT/EDIT package came out with version 2.0 not long ago but did not include any WDM drivers for the card. :(

Can we ever expect to see WDM drivers for the PCR card, and if so, when? Or will users of this card have to dump it for a Hammerfall or Dakota if they go to Win2k?

What is the current state of the "demise" (or re-birth) of Alesis?

Hi Geo:

This is a great question. There are 20 more just like it for other products. Many people in senior management at Alesis are no longer there. Some of those were our reliable contacts. The new management team, and the company are just now getting on their feet. I don't think they have decided all of the products they are moving forward with yet. I imagine many discussions are taking place on the inside and as things progress I hope they will get better about disseminating pertinent information to their partners (us).

Products that were very profitable or show the most promise are getting the lion's share of the attention right now. I expect the situation to improve substantially in the next two or three months. At this point that's about all I can tell you.

It's a shame. Too bad they got you guys too. I had established a great contact there, but one day I called and he was gone; things really went downhill fast there. The next guy wasn't nearly as friendly or helpful, and is wasn't long before I was getting no responses. And that was a while before hearing about chapter 11. I hope they get on their feet soon. I hope I have the patience to wait for them! And I hope you're not serious about 20 more like them.

We are starting to receive some product now, which is a good sign. We've got MasterLinks (at a great price) and some other stuff. Otherwise no major change. I'll be at AES in a few weeks so I'll try to find out more then.
