Ok, this is gonna sound pretty stupid. I record digitally and use a motu HD896 audio interface. Most of the time i use Logic Pro 8. How can i get a good setup for monitoring. Do i need a headphone amp or monitoring system or something? I've done this with analog equipment but am now moving to digital. If someone can explain how i can do this, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks

I guess it depends what you wanted to use it for. If you just wanting to do some tracking you could pick up some headphones and plug it in the front of the unit at the headphone input.
But if you wanting to do some mixing you'll want to pick up a pair of powered monitors and plug them into the main outs on the back of the unit.
good luck

You can use the extra outputs of your interface and connect it to some sort of headphone amp (there are tons, try out the new PreSonus one perhaps?).
Then, use the CueMix program included with the MOTU unit to create your headphone sends/mixes.

well i didn't mean to monitor for mixing...I meant i wanted like at least four separate mixes i can send out through headphones to the musicians. A headphone mix for drums, guitar, vocals..you get the point. I just dont know how to do this when im recording with digital interface gear. Thanks for your help

I don't understand your distinction here. As mentioned, look at Cuemix console.

If you've done analog recordings, you probably went through a mixing console, right? To give the musicians their mixes in their headphones you setup mixes using the monitor or aux sends on the console. This is the same concept for Cuemix. The 896HD has a DSP-mixer on-board that you can make monitor/cue mixes for your musicians without taxing your computer or creating unwanted latency.
