Anyone know why Sweetwater doesn't sell FMR products?

I wonder if they will be able to get a RNP for me. I emailed them and I'm waiting on a response. The last time I couldn't find something on their website they were able to get it in for me though.

I'm pretty certain they will not be able to get you any FMR products. I do not know why, but they do not carry any of them, just like they don't carry any Behringer gear (no, I'm not comparing them to Behringer), or Neve.

nope, they can't.

I'll probably just buy it from the company then, just trying to be loyal to Sweetwater.

Unless anyone has any recommendations for a preamp that sweetwater actually sells...

I've got plenty of recommendations. What sort of preamp are you looking for, specifically? Or, to put it another way, what is it that you like about the RNP?

Well it just seems to get really high reviews for such a cheap preamp.

I really haven't even heard it myself (or any decent pre for that matter). Things I did like about it was that it's 2 channels, in my price range (about $500), it has great reviews, it apparently is sort of transparent (not too colored so I can use it to stack multiple tracks), and made in the USA.

Not that a preamp has to hit on all of those points but I thought it sounded good.

My sales person recommended the True Systems Solo. I haven't been able to find alot of information about it though. Plus it's one channel for the same price.

Well, there's some great transparent pres out there. If you were planning on upgrading later, and had a way to save up another 3-400 you could get 4 channels now that are pretty transparent and really good quality with a Sytek MPX-4Aii (http://www.sytek-audio-systems.com/products/preamps/mpx4/). They're very clean pres and I haven't heard from anyone who doesn't like them. The Burr-brown op-amps are a nice option too. Keep in mind, buying used will save you a lot of money on things.

thanks, I'll check em out. I'm not opposed to saving up some cash for a decent pre. I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather buy decent stuff now than have to upgrade in a year. I don't like wasting money...

and I'm not opposed to buying used. I just thought I would be a good american and try to put some of my economic stimulus check back into the economy.
