Ok, I understand Sound Designer 2 files are not compatible with Pro Tools on Windows based systems. Now, per my "manual" I should be able to convert these files to an acceptable file type for import.
I go to File->Import->this brings up the import screen. I located the SD2 files, highlight one of them and hit "convert". Then.......nothing happens. I've set the conversion quality to its lowest settings just to see if it is taking forever on the conversion side at higher setting. I waited over two hours for one 76MB files to convert....and, nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

Dont know if this will help you:
FAQ: How do I convert SD2 files?
Question: How do I convert SD2 files?
Answer: This is somewhat complicated. First some background.
SD2 files are native to the Apple Macintosh platform and use features of the Mac filesystem (file resource forks) to store the file's sample rate, number of channels, sample width and more.
When SD2 files are moved to other platforms, the resource fork of the file can sometimes be dropped altogether. All that remains is the raw audio data and no information about the number of channels, sample rate or bit width which makes it impossible for anyone to open the file.
To safely move an SD2 file to a Windows machine, copy the SD2 file inside MacOSX to a windows shared directory, MacOSX is clever enough to store the resource fork of the file in a separate hidden file in the same directory like this:
The best practice is to copy the SD2 file to its own directory, and always copy the directory on the Windows PC, so the hidden resource file is always copied with the .sd2.
