Recording for practicing

Is there any type of pedal that I can use to quickly/easily record a minute or two of what i'm playing, then playback to play over (through the amp)?

Boss makes such a pedal; I bought one for my son and it is excellent. I think it cost me about $250 but it is worth it..he can loop all kinds of stuff.
