Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has used this plug-in for remote recording, seeing what your thoughts are on it.
Ease of use?
Quality?

Cheers,

Used it alot

its a great plug in, WHEN all kinks in your system have been worked out (IP stuff) and routing is set up. its a bit more complicated routing wise, since its all ITB routing, and takes a little to get used to, knowing how to mute your sends to this person, not this person, not letting the director his this talent at this time etc etc..

When you get into multiple connects (something very kewl), its a routing maze, but its awesome when it is all working well.

It is a much cheaper alternative to ISDN, and the sound quality can be acutally better. You have the option of going up to higher bit rates then ISDN can offer.

They used to have only one price point, I worked at a studio who got a great discount beacause of basically getting lots of people into it, and even then it was still like 800 bucks or something. The great news is that they have different levels, the begging one around 300 bucks or so, with just some reduced features, and they cap the bit rate to like 160 or so for a mono source I think. (still higher then ISDN)

With the pro version, there is some nice post functions included, I love taht you can message while connected, making comments like you would over Ichat.

So, long story short, its great, I feel this is the direction things will go, more studios are picking up on it, but its not so commonplace it has even come close to replacing ISDN. BUT if you work with lots of talent, mention you are wanting to use this, I am sure your fellow peeps will strongly look into this, heck with the amount of money saved on ISDN fees, it will pay for itself over time. Just be prepared to have a learning curve with the routing, but they are very helpful at the company to work out any glithes and answer questions.

Mate, thanks for your comments:)

Just so l have this right both parties will have to have the plug to be able to "talk" to each other.

Sorry its all new to me.

yes

its much like ISDN, you can connect and record, with usually less delay time found in ISDN. You can record VO talent and such remotely, talk back and forth once routing is setup correctly, its a really neat software to connect remotely.

not horribly complicated, but it has a learning curve I guess, but once you get a hang of it, its pretty easy and straight forward. You have to add people to your account basically, and when they are online, you can establish a connection, much like Instant message, except you run this through your DAW just like a plug in, route to record to tracks, send music or a spot down the line for the other person to hear, talk back and forth, record them for VO etc.
