I have a jbl jrx 118 passive sub. I want to power it with GLI power amp that I believe is rated at 300 watts per channel at 4 ohms. If I bridge the amp to get more wattage will that cause problems for the speaker or the amp? Or is 300 watts enough to power this sub. I've never bridged an amp before and was told it can cause premature spearker or amp failure.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Sincerely,
Jim

Incidently, I'm using a crown xls 402 amp to power my two jbl eon 1500 passive mains...also a behringer cx 2300 crossover.

Bridging an amp doesn't inherently cause any problems. Sometimes people experience problems due to mistakes they make in hookup or use, but bridging alone isn't the issue. Feel free to try it. That speaker should handle the additional power so long as it doesn't sustain for a long period of time.
