I don't see any posts regarding the new eMac here so i thought i would throw it open..i am seriously thinking of getting one to start off in the world of computer recording..i have heard this would be a good intro to th e world of mac's, i use PC's all day at work, so another reason to get mac was to work with a new platform, but for music..is this new emac G4 a good choice?
i mainly use a Yamaha Motif for my music at present, but would like to sequence and edit etc..on a screen, so mainly i would be using midi with one of the Logic programs..sending my midi and audio from the motif..to Logic...is anyone else using this set up right now? Just want to double check i am not buying a lemon before i dust off the credit card! Thanks.

A more specific question then..do eMac's require a soundcard? I would like to record the output of my technics 1200 turntable into a computer..could i plug in the ouput of the 2 channel DJ mixer into the eMac using the RCA jacks?..i would like to record and mix a DJ set in a software program, so i can tweak EQ's, add sound FX etc.. to a continuously mixed DJ set...however i only have 1 turntable, so i want to record the vinyl records into a software program first and then program it all...
I had read somewhere that the eMac had RCA inputs but i can't find any info on this..
Also, any recommended software for achieving this?
Thank u

The eMac has built in sound so you can plug right in. It's not RCA however but a miniplug. :bunny:

I'm a DJ and have a G4, and have done just that. I've used ProTools for all my stuff, and you can download a free version of it at www.digidesign.com that will handle 8 tracks. The emac has a 1/8" mini jack in, so you'd need a dual RCA to miniplug cable. Free is a good thing...

Yes, you can go into the eMac via the 1/8" plug, but you might want to consider getting a professional-grade audio interface if you're going to be doing any large volumes of work like this. Sounds like the M-box would be a good solution. It would give you XLR and TRS inputs over USB. It also comes with ProTools LE.
There are other options as well, this is just one that came to mind. Call your Sweetwater Sales engineer and he can help you get a system like this set up for you.
If you don't have a Sales Engineer yet, call the 800 number below and we can get you set up with one.
