I appears Waldorf has released an upgrade so that now the Waldorf Edition (PPG Wave 2.V, Attack drum synth, and D-Pole filter) are working optimally in Cubase4 (Mac OS-X universal binary).The link for the download is at;

Prior to now the vst would crash in Cubase4 and no preset sounds could be saved reliably on a Mac/Intel system. There are several other issues that need to be stated too.
First off there are actually two different forms of this software package. Steinberg (makers of Cubase4) sells a LEGACY edition of the Waldorf PPG Wave 2.V on it's web page. This is still not (to my knowledge) useable in the newer vst3 format. Waldorf amkes the other PPG Wave 2.V software package. It can be bought - you guessed it, from Sweetwater.

Look for the label "Waldorf Edition" when shopping. This latter edition will work once you download the upgrade from the above link.
The other issue that needs to be outlined is the fact that even with the new upgrade, Cubase4 still needs the files to be in a "vstpreset" format to work in the vst window. This is easily accomplished by clicking on the file menu in the vst window and selecting "change files to vst presets". Now you can load presets that have been saved back into the PPG Wave or Attack.
Also, in the PPG Wave 2.V, the way to name your new presets is rather cryptic. It involves simply control+click on the name field on the digital display and renaming the file.
All that said, you may be wondering why would anyone want to go through all that to just get another synth vst into Cubase4? Well the answer lies in the fact that to PPG Wave users, there is no other synthesizer like a Wave! It is just too freakin' sweet! The sounds generated by this beast are classic and is probably the most emulated FM sound ever. Most of the really great preset sampler packages out now have taken sounds from the Wave in some form or another, and unless you have never dialed in a big splash fat chord sound like what comes out of this synth, you can't even begin to imagine the way it sounds. Think Thomas Dolby "One of Our Submarines" or any Tangerine Dream 1980-1990's sounds. Way cool!
For a sample of the Wave sounds, either go to the Waldorf site (above) or listen to the keys and guitar effects on this tune;
