Currently i have waves Platenum series, which i've had for a few years and there are excellent. I'm pretty happy with the way my mixes turn out.

I'm looking for some new sounds.

I'm looking at either the SSL, V series, or the API. I can't afford them all, right now, so i'm trying to deceided which would be best.

I do all kinds of music, from rock, jazz, acoustic, etc, so i'm looking for as much versatility as i can get.

from what i hear, SSL is a rock pop sound, V series is a warm vintage, and the API is also a vintage sound?

Any suggestions?

Also, i current have the waves L1 with my bundle. has anyone use the new L3-16 band? is there really a big difference between that and the L1?

thanks

SSL by Waves is fantastic! Nice Channel, EQ and of course buss comps!

I demo'd the SSL Duende but I liked the Waves version better. I read somewhere the comp/eq models were from different SSL boards. You will need mucho RAM though if you plan to use several instances of SSL plugs by Waves.

I have the Duende and really like the sound. I have run 25 channels of various comps, channels and Drumstrip and no problems. I think that a hardware based plugin really helps take the strain off of the computer although I have enough power that it would be less likely that it would limit me. The buss comp is beautiful and you can dig down miles..

that's right - no strain on the host CPU with a hardware processor like DUENDE - if I had more moolah I'd also get the Duende! ;)

just a few hundred more bucks will gets you a muse and way more flexibility. Of course you would have to buy your software fx plugins in addition to the muse....but considering it can run all your software instruments and fx...if I'm going to dream of gear I can't afford yet, muse is at the top of my list.
