Looking at the A&H ML3000 vs Soundcraft series two, among others. Only console in its price range that has VCA groups fom what I can tell.
Any experiences with it, good or bad?

I've never had a bad experience with any Allen & Heath product that's been made in the last 8 years or so. I use primarily Soundcraft and Allen & Heath on installs. I have not used the ML3000.
I like the flexibility of the A&H routing scheme, and also the EQ in the higher-end boards. The Series Two EQ is not quite as flexible.
One other interesting side note: The Series Two uses multi-channel PC boards (like a Mackie) instead of individual vertical channel cards, making the effects and repair costs of losing a channel much more significant versus that of single vertical PCB's. I guess this is how Soundcraft got the price of the Two down compared to, say, that of the K2. But it wouldn't be my first choice for a touring or mobile desk as a result.
