I run an Alesis D4. I seperate the bass, snare, cymbles and toms through the outs on the back of the unit and into separate channels on a Mackie 12 channel. I then take the out and into my main PA mixer.

Now the problem, I just can't seen to get the bass drum loud enough with out clipping the channel.

If anyone has a suggestion to make the drums "pop" with out the clipping I would really appreaciate it.

Thanks for your time!

EQ might help, but most likely you need to turn other things down to the bass drum can be as loud as you want w/o clipping.

Some compression on the kick will give it more punch and may make it louder in the mix, but I agree that you should turn everything else DOWN until the kick is blended properly, then turn up your main mix.

turn the gain down, turn the chan all the way down. read the manual. and adjust it with that little meter that allows you to read the input level. if it hits red at all, readjust everything.

If the D4 is anything like my DMpro you may need to adjust the output volume coming out of the module. I have noticed that you can clip signals right out of the unit before it ever gets sent to a mixer, etc. On the DMpro I go under the mix or drum button to adjust individual drum volumes and the front volume control to adjust the overall output. I would start there and then work forward with the suggestions others have posted.
