Group,
So far I have only come across Sony Sound Forge editing software ($300.00)and I was wondering if anyone knows of any other audio editing software out there both free and paid.
Also I am looking for .wav file players free and paid.
Thanks much
Doug

On the high end, you have Wavelab (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=wavelab&tt=1&go=Go%21) for PC and Peak (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=bias+peak&tt=1&go=Go%21) for Mac. On the low end, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is free and cross-platform.

Matt H. Thank you for sharing those programs. I will check them out soon.
Also I want to share my 24/96 .wav file recordings with others on a message board on the internet and I am wondering what I can do to accomplish this where all of them can listen to it without having to do anything special or install, or etc, as most of them are not too savy with computers and internet.
I have tried converting them to mp3 but from what i understand the quality is downgraded.
Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas on this?
Thanks
Doug

.wav files are usually way to large to stream or put online. They're in the area of 10 Megabytes per minute of stereo, CD-quality audio. mp3's are about 11 times less than this, on average, but different bitrates change the total bandwidth, and in turn, the quality. You will probably need them to be mp3 or some other kind of compressed audio. Maybe someone else can offer tips on posting files online. I'm not the most experienced in this regard.

There are a few lossless compression formats that you could use, but the people listening would have to install software to listen to them.
Perhaps you could convert them to Apple Lossless, and tell them to listen to them with iTunes?

Whenever you need to find audio software, Hitsquad's Shareware Music Machine is a great place to look:

(they have Windows, Mac and Linux software links to EVERYTHING)
Audacity is a great start. It's FREE, has good tools and runs on all computers.
