I use a pair of Yamaha MSP5's. Plenty of power and sound good. A/B'd them at a music store with some nice Tannoys that were more than double the cost, and the MSP5s held up well, I thought. But then I wasn't ready to plunk down over 1K for monitors so maybe I heard what I wanted to hear. It looks like Yamaha is packaging them with a subwoofer now... see latest MF catalog. Certainly not a high-end monitor, but they are a good value. When playing tracks with heavy bass, the MSP5s will part your hair with all the air coming out the ports. There's some trim switches on the back but I keep mine flat. Both 1/4 inch and XLR inputs, and the heatsinks on back are huge. They are sturdy and solid. Bottom line is, I recommend them, and the new sub would probably make them even better.
