Hello all. I'm looking for a way to replicate a signal processing technique / effect used by the likes of Nine Inch Nails. It sounds like the signal is breaking down and being destroyed, cutting in and out.
How would i do this? Any outboard gear suggestions? Plugins for recording software?
Thanks!
I know they used to use the DINR plug-in for some of this stuff. It can be twisted in the way you describe.

I imagine they have a variety of other processors and teqniques as well.

Clever use of bit reduction or other distortion plugins and volume automation can sometimes simulate the breaking-up effect. Pluggo has some great, wild distortion effects, as well as TONS of other really cool things.

i'll check into some of these. Anyone have any other suggestions? even if you suggest the same process... maybe a particular tool that you've found to be helpful?
