I'm new at this home recording stuff. I was wondering what is the best way to be able to record 8 tracks at a time. I've noticed a lot of the interfaces only have two preamps. Are there any interfaces with maybe eight preamps? If so, which ones are the best.

thanks alot guys

yes there is.
*motu 896(8 in with pres and phantom power on all 8)
*aardvark q10(8in with pres with only 4 with phantom power)
*echo mona(4 in with pres and phantom power)
*staudio sysIII(8 in with pres +)
*ego sys wami192xl(4 in only with pres and phantom.123db a/d and 106db d/a dynamic range on converters)

there are others, but those come to mind now.

important:make sure that your os platform is compatable when choosing
as far as compatability.g.l.

Also the MOTU828,,but it just has phantom power on (the first) 2, so the 896 has it beat there. 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8 all share one gain control too. However, the 828 has a co-axial S/PDIF, and the 896 is optical only.
