Im running a firewire 1814 with M-Powered Pro-Tools 7.1. I have pluged the 1814 into an expresscard (texas instrument) but after about a minute or two of recording audio, the signal starts to squalch and distort abit. I downloaded and installed the "Hotfix" patch for dual core processors which fixed unstable playback, is there anything that I need to do to fix the problem with recording audio? Please help.

I looked up that laptop, and it has the option of being preinstalled with XP media Center. This is NOT a supported operating system. The issues involve the way audio drivers are handled in the OS, so this issue could be related. If it XP Home or Pro, then you should probably check out our PC Optimization Guides:

If these STILL don't solve the problem, you may have bad hardware, or an IRQ conflict. Contact Tech Support after that.

I have tried everthing apart from downloading the Intel Application Accelerator as the link in artical #30086 could not find it. My OS is XP pro.

Is it a core duo? If so 7.1 doesn't support it. You need 7.3. I run pro tools on windows media center with no problems so far.
