Hi Y'all,:bounce:

I have between $1000 and $1500 to spend on a good monitor. I mix music, which 90% of the time is indian. Very acoustic, and natural. There is no such thing like wanted distortion, fuzzing, etc.

Everything is recorded to sound like it sounds naturally:smokin: . I do a little bit of post production for short films and TV, but the music is the priority! With the nature of my content in mind, what do you think are the best options for me? I mix in a 4 Metre by 3 metre room.

Thanks

All I can speak from is personal experiance and my thoughts roll toward the Adam A7.

They're about $1000 a pair and have great highs and mids. The bass (to me) seems a bit lacking but I do rock and metal and am currently looking for a sub.

These have got a clarity in detail that I never got out of my old system (currently collecting dust :D )

If you're by a music store somewhere that has em, they'd be worth checking out (imho)

As a side note, your room is treated isn't it? If not, I'd look into tuning your room first, then some monitors. If so, disregard my babbling. :smokin:

Hope it helps...............Kel

If your room is not treated and/or you may be moving from location to location every once and a while you might want to check out the JBL LSR4300's they have something called Room Mode Correction which helps compensate for standing frequencies caused by lack of room treatment

I have heard some less then stellar remarks on the A7 from a few guys, I am sure they are fine, but not nearly as good as their higher end monitors. for that price I suggest JBL's or dynaudio

I vote the JBLs.
Personally, I think they sound GREAT, and most reviews say the same.

Interestingly enough, my primaries are JBL 4300s and my Bs are Adam A7s. If I had to choose, JBL hands down. Both of these monitors are amazing, but the JBL's self calibration mode puts them over the top.

good marriage.I"ve noticed that ribbon tweeters are used for acoustical guitar amps,so to me,that says quite a bit.Being that Adam has come up with a ribbon tweeter that is more durable than even dome tweeters,is very impressive.
Yeah,Adam does not have all the bells & whistles of the JBL's,such as a remote control & automatic room correction, but for me personally,I would rather buy into better materials & design and just raw bare bones quality, rather than features that I don't need. While there is alot of objectivity with overall sound quality, still, there is no disputing the capabilities of a good ribbon tweeter.Besides,I've noticed that people who give negative reviews with regard to bass response on monitors, are just too bass happy.
Why would you want overpowering, glass shattering bass in a nearfield situation?I've heard the JBL 4300 series and they sounded decent, but I can tell you from personal experience that the best overall frequency response I have heard so far,is the Wharfedale Diamond series monitors.I have the 8.1 monitors & they are the best monitors I've bought to date. The LF response is tight, clean & punchy and plenty of clarity of the HF.The LF driver is a kevlar bi-weave and I've always heard the best LF response from monitors with this material. The Wharfedale's are $249.00 a pair & I am using them as a home theatre set up,but they would do well in a studio enviroment.
I was just using them as an example, emphasizing on how important speaker material and components are.
However good the JBL's may be in certain aspects, using paper cones with a polymer coating is always a comprimise- which to me,is not very attractive for the $1000 + price range.

Check out the Dynaudio BM6AII's. They are very un-hyped in the mids and highs. Incredible bottom end response as well, but very natural too. I swear by them.
