I had the pleasure of speaking with Dave Bryce, the U.S. sales rep of Adam Audio,as well as combing through every inch of Adam's website and obtaining astounding info.Up until this point,I had always heard that ribbon tweeters were not as durable as other designs, but after having read the science behind the new ribbon technology-as it turns out, they have managed to come up with a ribbon tweeter that is not only superior in sound, but actually is MORE durable than dome tweeters.
I know that everyone here is really big on conducting a sound test over anything else, but it's tough to find a music store to test them if you do not live in IN or N.Y.C..Besides which of course, the ultimately true sound test is having the monitors in your particular size room and whether or not your room is properly dampened acoustically. Also,I was told by the salesman that they have a good return policy and that I can return then if I do not like them for any reason.Prior to this new information, the idea of a ribbon tweeter as it were, was the only thing stopping me from buying the adams.
They are $250 less than the Genelecs(mainly due to a significant portion of the monitor being manufactured in Asia),so there is no compromise in technology or quality.
As with everything else this can all be considered as more objectivity, but I am personally stone-sold on these bad boys!
Interestingly enough,Adam had discontinued a monitor that had an aluminum enclosure.
I have ultimately concluded that if the technology, design and manufacturing is all executed with precision and harmony, cabinet material-at least to a certain degree,is erroneous.
I'm just offering some food for thought.Interperate it and do with it whatever you like.:smokin:

My ADAMs have been some of the absolute best things I've ever purchased. When it sounds right on them, I can be confident it will sound great everywhere else, which is a real time saver. I bought when the expensive ones were the only option, and although the price at the time was steep, they've been worth every penny.

Can I ask you when you purchased them and the purchase price?
Really curious.:smokin:

I bought a pair of the Adam A7's from Brad a few months ago and am MUCH impressed! The clarity and imaging are much clearer and the highs (ribbon tweeter) and mids are superb. I'm hearing compression and reverb tails that I never heard before. Much cool. ;)

They've only got a 6.5 in woofer so a sub is next on my never-ending-gear-addiction list. :D
