I'm trying to get the two to cooperate together and am having troubles, particularly in Cubase but am not sure if my settigns in Protools are causing it. I can use protools just fine but in Cubase I can't hear what I'm doing.
I have a signal on my keyboard and on Cubase but nothing comes out of the headphones which are plugged into my Digi001. I can record Midi but when I want to record to and Audio track there is no signal.
Any suggestions would be really great!

Adrienne,
Check with the Digidesign User Conference (http://duc.digidesign.com) for an answer to your questions. Last time I was there, I saw a few people using the Digi 001 with Cubase.
The Sweetwater Forums have been a ghost town recently.

There are some political reasons that have influenced the reasons the situation is difficult. Steinberg decided they had a better way of doing things than Digi a few years back including 32 bit when nothing was 32 bit yet. This caused them to lose their ability to support higher end ProTools users on TDM based systems for instance and trickled down to "lower" end products like DIGI 001. I'm curious as to why you want to use Cubase and DIGI. Did you buy the unit from Sweetwater? If so was tech support unable to help? I'm not familiar enough with Cubase in this particular situation enough to answer your question directly and mostly for the reasons above, they haven't cooperated politically I doubt they are technically.
Make sure you have the latest version of cubase - bug fixes are often posted as free downloads off a software manufacture's website. Trash all your cubase preferences and then do a clean install of the updated software.

It's crazy beacuse out of all the hours I've spent with tech support on the phone, nobody can pin it- and the specific problems keep changing.
I Just switched over to a G4 and have been told that I won't be able to use Cubase too well unless I had at least 5.0 which I didn't. So I tried the 5.0 demo and there was no improvement.
Also when I was using the set up with my G3, I actually had to send my machine to Sweetwater and have them hook it up for me because I killed my machine trying to do it myself. They ended up partitioning the drive and got it to work perfectly. I'm not sure why they did it but I would love to learn how and see if I can get this going so I can get back to work.
