Hello everyone,

It's been some time since I've posted anything on the forum but have truly enjoyed and benefited from reading all of your post.
I was hoping to get some feedback from some of you pro pc guys if possible.

I was thinking of upgrading the pc since mine just threw out sparks and smoke. I built it myself a few years ago and have really been out of touch with the new dual core cpu's etc...

I had an Asus PC-DL deluxe M.B. w/ dual pentium Xeon 3.06 processors and 2 GB's of Crucial tech. ram running Nuendo 3.
I am waiting to hear back from the pc doctor on the status of my frying, to see if anything in the box is salvageable.

Even with this system I found myself getting road blocked quite often and not having enough power to finish things up when it came to mixdowns & all of the plugins needed to finish the job.

Does anyone have experience with comparable machines to know if any of the new boards and dual core cpu's can meet or exceed what I had?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I'm running a Lynx AES 16 card with the Lynx Aurora 16 Converters.

Thanks,
Keith

Well, based on this article:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2003/08/11/dual_xeon_duo/page10.html
I'd say from a raw data performance point of view, nearly any Pentium 4 3GHz or higher CPU should give equivalent performance.

I found this article an interesting read:

It really gives you an idea of the performance benefits from the currently available architectures because all the CPU's compared are running at the same 2.4GHz clock speed. Clearly Intel's Core architecture is coming out on top for most purposes.

I'd recommend you take a look at our new Creation Station lineup.

Even our entry level Pentium 4 machine should give you equivalent performance to your old DAW, but I'd recommend looking at the Core 2 Duo models. If you're really into performance, check out the Quad Core Rack XT! :)

Thanx Justin! Very Helpful stuff there.

Yes, the Creation machines are VERY NICE INDEED!

Now if someone would just design a designated OS for recording we'd be all set..lol.
