Hello, I own a small studio and I am looking in to getting some studio monitors. I am using a Motu 8pre as my interface. I am recording my band's album and will be mixing it as well. At this point I don't own any monitors or monitor amps at all.

Basically what I am looking for is a pair of monitors with a clean mix that translates well to a "real world" sound. My budget is around $300. Possibly more if it is very necessary.

I have been looking at the M-Audio BX5a's and having been hearing some decent things about them.

Please give me any recomendations you have. Feel free to ask me any questions as well.

Thanks,
-Eric

Usually with a 300$ budget, people get the MAudios, the Event ALP5, or one of the Samson Resolvs (like the 65a) and later expand the samsons with a sub.

My personal fav out of those are the BX5a's, but other guys have lots of other opinions. I dont think you can go wrong too badly with any of them. All are good entry level monitors.

One question would be, how big of a room are you mixing in? A smaller room would fit the Maudio's better, whereas I think the samsons with a sub would do well in a larger room.
