I' m thinking to upgrade my G3 350 to a G4 500 with one of the many ZIF upgrades cards. Any good or bad experience with that?

It really depends a lot on what you are doing with your computer. It will speed things up for you, but it's not the same as having a real G4. If you are running a lot of heavy duty audio and MIDI software/hardware you should consider getting a real G4.

I know it's better to have a brand new 6000 € G4, but what I get for 300 € (ZIF ugrade cards) is it working? No hardware or software conflicts with audio?

Simon,
Personally I wouldn't do the upgrade, I'd go for the dual 1Gig (if you could afford). The reason being, is the system bus in the G3's being 66 mhz (or whatever it is), and the new g4's are 133mhz. Yeah you'll see some speed improvements, but not great enough to justify the change. Now, perhaps if you had an older 9600 or something like that, then I might say yes-do it.
For what it was worth?
Ciao

Like Keith said, the difference will be incremental, but to answer your question: Yes, it does work... for the most part. There are some inconsistencies, but if you use common applications and hardware you should be fine. If you use lots of third party stuff then who knows....
