I was wondering if any computer savvy people could help me out.

I use a Digi 001 for all for all my audio needs and Avid DV Xpress for video editing. You’d think that since they're both made by the same manufacturer they both work on the same operating system. But of course they don’t. (come on digidesign:() Avid is only win2000 and the 001 is only win98se.
My problem is transferring audio files to the video editor. Until now I’ve just been burning the audio to CD and bringing it over to the Avid. Works OK and even though CD media is cheap it, it adds up over time and the whole process can be quite time consuming.
For storage purposes I bought an 80gig firewire drive for the video. What I want to do is hotswap between the two computers and put the audio directly on the drive it will be used from. However, due to 98’s FAT32 and 2000’s NTFS file system this doesn’t work.

Or will it???

What if I partitioned a 10gig space on the firewire drive and formatted it with FAT32. Will the 98 machine recognize it automatically?

Thanks for any advice,
-drew
