When listening to music on my ipod, specifically a certain song, I hear the guitar being played on the left earbud, and the bass playing on the right earbud, which I believe that was how it was mixed when the song was originally recorded. although when listening to the song on my computer, I get both guitar and bass going on in both ears. my sound card is an audigy 4 and when I set my speaker settings to headphones, and test the settings, i get a proper sound pan. It only happens when I play mp3s that proper panning isn't occuring. I've tried using winamp, windows media player, itunes, etc, and I still don't get the proper sound panning from my mp3s.

I know Creative touts its EAX technology a great deal which incorporates a surround sound emulator (similar to SRS surround). Perhaps this is what's causing the mix to fold back in on itself. There should be some sort of mixer page where you can check and disable this feature. That's my first guess.
