Anyone have any experience with these?

Ive read a bunch of positive reviews about them

I went to listen to them in Sam Ash... they sounded really great to me

But its always hard to shop for new monitors without really mixing on them

So I was wondering if anyone has actually mixed on them... and what you had to compare them to

They cost about the same as a pair of Mackie HR824s... for those not familiar with the blue sky system... its a set of 2 active monitors (6" woofers) with a matched 12" subwoofer...

thanks in advance

I've not personally heard these, but there are new lines of monitors popping up left and right. What kind of monitors do you need? What is your budget? There are many other proven sets of monitors out there already..... I personally use the HR824's and have yet to do a bad mix on them, they are just very dependable.

I mix hip hop... so i need good bass response... Im basically deciding right now between the HR824s and the Blue Sky 2.1

Ive heard great things about the mackies... but Ive also heard that the bass response is hyped...

Ive read a few reviews about the Blue Sky monitors... and they always have gotten exceptional reviews... I listened to them and they sound great (as do the mackies)... its just hard to make the decision without knowing of anyone who is testing them in the real world

Right now Im leaning towards the Blue Sky 2.1s.... im going to go back to Sam Ash with some music Ive mixed... and try and listen to both the 824s and the Blue Sky to get a good a/b comparison...

What is the return policy on monitors here at sweetwater? I wouldnt mind just buying the blue skys... trying them for a few days to see if I like them... but im pretty sure that speakers are not returnable unless defective...

Wow, if you're doing Hip-Hop then you DEFINITELY want the Mackie's. I've been making records and doing production for over 10 years and short of the Genelec 1031AP, I think the Mackies ae the next best thing for a third the price. Now, there are other applications that the Gens are still better but I have to tell you, the HR824's are VERY accurate, flat, appealing, and most importantly.,... you can trust your mix to them. I've yet to do a mix on these that have come out wrong and didn't respond the way they did in the studio when I play in another sound system. I see you're working with Ray... give him a call. If you don't like the Mackies well, we'll be shocked :-) But we can work something out.

As for your A/B comparison.... sorry, that just doesn't work. The way you REALLY test monitors is to actually mix complete projects on them and then play in various playback systems.... I did this with about 10 pairs of monitors for nearly a year and boy did it open my eyes. By the way way, the Mackie's were in the middle pricepoint of what I used and they scored at the very top.
