View Full Version : Two Track Recorder
 Hey I need some suggestions on a good mixdown recorder for master cd or would it be better to just do it with recording software on computer.
I have always used an Alesis Masterlink. There is a used one on this board at $300. The unit does a lot, even if one does pay normal price.
Best.

yes, I love my masterlink. It sounds killer. Had it updated a month ago with a larger hard drive and the latest software upgrade.
I have wav lab that I use for MP3's conversion, web stuff but for serious mastering I send it all out to guys that do it every day.
I mix down to a DVRA100 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DVRA1000/) from Tascam...it's a very handy box that lets you record directly to CD or to DVD. I mix down to DVD and then take my mixes back into the computer for editing and mastering, if necessary. It's nice because I have an archive right away, and it does a variety of formats, including DSD (which, aside from trying it out to make sure it was working when I first got it, I've honestly never used). The built-in converters sound very good as well. I wouldn't consider it a necessity, though...I do oftentimes find myself mixing down right inside of the computer, maybe just out of laziness...
