Bass Session Question

I need to record a live bass; I usually only record synths and vocals. This is a R&B project and I was wondering if most guys record bass of a cabinet or a direct!

Some do both and combine the 2 to get the sound they want. I go direct thru a preamp.

I almost always try to record both, though it somewhat depends on the amp and speakers the player is using.

You could also look at a bass modeling plug in, such as.....

Chances are, going direct into this might turn out better then the other options, and probally easier.

going direct is usually the best option when it comes to bass...from experience unless you have a great room, with great mics/pres with a great cab the direct sound will be more usable and cleaner in the mix
