there are some great resources at www.sae.edu for studio construction and more .. in one article they suggest building walls in reverse .. sheetrock on the outter side and insulation on the inside for absorption .. cover that with cloth .. then place slat resonators over that .. anyone heard of this? how about the direction of the slats .. should they be horizontal? vertical? or diagonal? any ideas? thanks much!

The Master Acoustic's Handbook is a good place to look too. Available on Amazon.com.
I believe a mix of all, H, V and diagonal will result in the best absorbtion, reflection, diffusion.
still studying this myself.
