Has anyone successfully connected their Rolland GR-20 guitar synch thru a MIDI interface to the Reason music production software. I am using M-Audio MIDISPORT for my MIDI interface and Reason v3.04.

The MIDISPORT is detected by Reason fine and actually has MIDI Out and USB lights flashing when connected to my GR-20. Unfortunately no notes come into my sequence in Reason which I have set a sequencer to ch1 and the GR20 to MIDI ch1.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't use reason.. I use Protools, but had simmilar problems with the midisport. first.. try a midi keyboard, to confirm that reason is actually receiving data.. the midisport light up all the time.. confirm reason is actually seeing midi at all. In protools there's this really sophisticated midi routing tool panel and i'd routed it wrong. Also for the moment make sure the gr is set for omni mode. (sending the same thing on all midi chanels) You might be sending on Channel 1 ( which i seem to recall is the default) and your reason is looking at midi chanel 16 or something.

Hope this helps.

BTW what do you think of the gr20, and what guitar are you using? I started with the gr-09 and the stick on pick-up and hated it.. bought a roland ready strat and everything suddenly worked! then I bought a godin classical and that's the sh@t! tracks perfectly etc. I can't say enough good about it. I'v using a gr-20 and the v-guitar system now and i'm finally feeling like i can control the beast that is guitar/midi conversion!
