i have posted this in the MIDI section as well, so sorry if you have already read it....it didnt look like the MIDI section gets that much traffic.

i was wondering if anyone has had experience using the inter-application bus (known as IAC) on the Macintosh platform? supposedly you can sync two audio/midi applications via this internal midi bus - ? as of yet, i've have had no luck. i'm still using studio vision pro (sorry), and would like to sync it with spark if possible, and it appears the option is available with both applications.

I haven't tried synchronizing Spark and StudioVision (yikes! that's like trying to tow a dump truck with a yugo!), but it's probably possible. I've done this with ProTools, StudioVision, and Digital Performer (any pair). It will take some experimentation, but as long as both apps can (a) use OMS, and (B) send and/or recieve MTC, it "should" work.

Here are the basics on how to do this:
1. Verify that your OMS Studio Setup contains the IAC bus
2. In OMS MIDI Setup (Edit menu), choose "Run MIDI in background"
3. Determine which application is going to be the MTC master, and which will be the slave *(you'll probably want to try both ways).
4. Check each application for an option to "run in background"... some have the option, some don't.
5. Set the Master application to Send/Transmit MTC, and designate the port as "IAC Bus".
6. Set the Slave application to Recieve/Slave to MTC, from port "IAC Bus".\
7. Leave the Slave application "online"/ waiting for sync, and press play on the master application.
