I'm interested in recording two-way phone conversations for use in feature radio news pieces.
I've purchased a Gentner Microtel and a Pro Co M3 mic splitter, which will allow me to use a condenser lav on my end and feed the caller through the Microtel and into my HHb PortaDAT. The plan is to have me on one channel, the caller on the other channel. Here's my concern, however. I know how thin a phone feed is. Can someone tell me of a way to process it after the fact to make it sound better? I own Arboretum's Ionizer, which gives me something like 512 separate frequency bands to tweak. I'm hoping that will help, but I could use some pointers.

Careful use of an Aphex exciter will synthesize high frequency content (which is cut from telephone signals) and thus will improve clarity, presence, and "air".
