Heres the situation.

Epiphone les paul
Emg 81&85s
Peavey XXL
behringer 412
boss tu-2 tuner pedal
boss NOISE SUPPRESSOR pedal.

I got this amp and it sound really good. I got the pickups, and it sounds great.
But when i turn the amp up (lead on 10, master on about 5-6), out comes an EAR PIERCING SQUEEL that would make a small childs head explode. Im serious. this noise is brutal to say the least. Its fine when im playing, but when iim not, it squeels. It kindof like the sound it makes when you are too close to the amp....but im not. Im talking about a good 20 feet away.
I lowered my pickups to see if this was the problem. It was not. I even lowered them to the lowest possible setting just to see what happened, and it still does it.
So...upon recommendation, I bought the boss noise suppresor pedal.

It hooked it up, which was not to hard since i dont have an effects loop. (however i ran my pedal tuner throught the send and recieve on the pedal just for the hell of it.) I cranked up the amp, set the threshold and decay, and it seemed to work. It cut off the sound before the squeel kicked in. i thought i had won the fight.
As i continued playing, i noticed the pedal allows a split second of feedback to come through before it cuts it off, and that split second of feedback STAYS IN THE SPEAKERS even though the gate has turned on. when im playing at the said volumes, i can hear the squeeling as im playing, behind my guitar!!!!!!!! Even with the noise suppresor, the feedback is still unbearable. it beats the noise suppressor somehow. its alive!!!!

Im pretty sure the boss pedal is doing what its designed to do, but im not sure if its enough.
Reading some of the reviews of the pedal, it appears that is used for pedal and preamp noise, not amp feedback. is this correct? I have no pedals, and no preamp. so im not sure if its doing what i need done. Or, is it, and i have other problems?.....

There is a switch on the back of the amp that says ground. - 0 and +. what should that be set to???

IF anyone has any ideas as to any of the problems ive listed, please let me know.

Ps.... upon further review of my situation, the amp makes the head popping squeel noise even at low low volumes. not even cranked up. there has to be some kind of problem here!!!!!

Just curious, have you had this feedback problem with your guitar before? I once had an epiphone les paul, and the pickups fed back so stinkin easy, I returned it.

No, i didnt have this problem before, i also didnt have the emg pickups, or the xxl head before either. I got them both at the same time. all i had was a tiny marshall practice amp.
