Does anybody have any recomendations on the type of "equalizer" I may want to use to tune my control room? I'm running Yamaha NS10's and Genelec 1031's and thinking about purchasing an SR30 omni mic for analysis with SIA SMART program. Any suggestions? Thank, Rob

Stay the heck away from equalizers and spend the time and money treating your room. I recommend that you start with the low frequency nodes using some bass traps, work on 1st reflections using some foam products, etc.

RPG offers room evaluation software
ETF makes a product, Acoustisoft, for measuring your room response
CARACad can be used to model your room and help optimize speaker/listener placement
Auralex will do a free room analysis for you

and, there are GOBS of places on the net to learn about these kinds of things - it takes some time! good luck and enjoy!

As DPD said, put your money, time and effort into tuning the acoustics of the room, not 'voicing' your 'reference' monitors to sound good.
An understanding of acoustics will aid in your recording, listening, and production chops.
