After going back and forth a million times finally decided to go with a dual amd mp system, instead of a new pent 4. Going to build it myself and wondered about the best mobo out there. I'm pretty sure the dual mobos don't have ANYTHING to do with the VIA chipset or north or south bridges. It's mainly because of plug in and soft synth power thats needed that made me go this way. Intel your still a great pross. This will be a strickly DAW system, no games or internet. So whats the good mobos for dual athlon mp's.

Thanks for your quik reply. Is this the only board you suggest for dual mp's? This is strickly for DAW use, recording my own music. I don't need the scsi control or Lan, why pay extra for something I don't need, if there's anything else out there thats proven to be good. Gonna use 3 hard drives or 2 still don't know if its overkill. One drive for OS and the other for audio or 1 for OS and 2 for audio set in 0 raid Array with 2 removable trays. 7200rpm drives either Seagate, Maxtor, IBM, Dual Video card for 2 monitors, 512 ram for now , I'll see if I need more. (Plan on using lots of DXI soft synths from Sonar XL). Plextor burner, And still undecided about case. Rackmount, aluim, or tower. Someone told me to stay with a tower, better circulation. By the way the Enermax power supply is the one I wanna use but how many watts do I need for a dual system 400,430 ,500. I know at least 400Watt power supply. We'll thanks again.

Well here's the Tyan Tiger MPX: http://direct.mwave.com/mwave/doc2/a15945.html
More in line with what you are looking for. I've decided to go SCSI this time because I had too many issues with IDE RAID.
As far as I'm concerned, Tyan has been doing the dual MP mobos longer than anyone and has everything down pat. No compatability issues, the chipsets are rock solid, very well made boards.
As far as the hard drives, I think I read someplace that IBM was getting out of the HDD biz. And if you are not going SCSI, don't buy a Seagate -- their IDE drives crap out quickly. Any build I've ever done has been with Maxtor -- they are rock solid. As for a powersupply, as well as other stuff for your DAW, check these guys out: http://www.quietpc.com/products.html
Great stuff and quiet as all heck -- I've been using thier 300W PS for the last 6 months, and they are very quiet. I am somewhat concerned that they don't have a PS with more power because the minimum for a dual board is 300W. But a buddy of mine that is a Elecronics Engineer, tested my PS and said it is better than most 300 W PS's -- so I'm not that worried.
