Hey everyone,
I was hoping for some suggestions/recommendations for powered monitors.
My room set-up is certainly less than ideal, but I'm looking for something around the $500 range.
My roommate has a pair on Tannoys (I forget the specific make) that he got for about $500, and they sound pretty good for the price.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A lot of people highly recommend the M-Audio Bx5a and Bx8a for inexpensive monitors. I have a pair of the 5's, as well as some higher-end monitors, and I find myself doing a lot of mixing on the M-audios still.
Definately recommend them.

I love my Event TR8-Ns. I switched to them a couple years ago and I have had very good luck with them. Someone here said they are boomy, but I haven't really found that to be the case. My recordings are playing on local radio stations, XM Satilite Radio, iChannel and a few other places so I consider that as proof that you can acheive professional results with them.
It doesn't matter what monitors you have if you have problems with your room. The room I'm in now has some serious problems with bass reflections and it causes me to think my mixes are too bass heavy, but when I finish they seem thin. I have to do a lot of critical listening and walking around my room (sometimes outside my room) and comparing to other CDs for reference. That takes a lot of time, but the problem right now is my room and not the monitors. The room I was in before translated my mixes almost perfectly with the same monitors. That was a much bigger room though and I sometimes had trouble getting reverbs right.
Anyway, I really dig the Event TR8-N monitors.

The maudio Bx8s are super monitors. Great sound, near field quality and go for 499.00 at most stores on the internet, Sweetwater has them. Free shipping.
