View Full Version : shipping computers
anyone have any recommendations for shipping a CPU. I've never had to move all my equipment overseas before. So if anyone has any tips, warnings about shipping a G4, please let me know

I would say that if you kept your original packaging then I would use that. Apple packs their "babies" quite well. But if that isn't an option then find boxes and pack them as much as possible and cross your fingers. The way that the hard drive is attached to the case should keep it from being shaken loose and thrown around inside the case. I might even remove the harddrive and ship it seperately simply because when the case is jostled the platters inside the hard drive will get most of the shock. The hard drive is probably safer in foam padding since the whole drive can move together when not attached to the case. If you have an Apple Care Protection plan then you should be able to replace any thing that breaks. Just act clueless, it just stopped working. heheheheh. Make sure you take out insurance. Well, good luck. Where are you going anyway?
