Need some help. After reading as much as we can soak in here -

For A PC ProAudio Interface, who has the Best Mic PreAmps?

Specs? 24/96 AD/DA. Whether 2, 4 or 8 Mic PreAmps. And Phantom powered of course. O/S drivers... preferably Win2000.

We have an Aardvark 24/96 on WinMe. Bad idea, WinMe. Sounds great once we were able to get rid of all the junk running in the background. We'e thinking about another Aardvark but... drivers. No way we're going back to WinX anything. Time is money and Win9X was a waste of time, IMO.

Appreciate any feeback or insight given.

I think you should still consider an Aardvark card, my 24/96 has been great, and the mic-pres are very clean. As far as the OS is concerned, Aardvark has just released the ASIO & WDM drivers for Win 2000/XP (availible at aardvark-pro.com). I'm assuming that a GSIF driver is in the works too.

Thanks. I hope Aardvark DOES get GSIF into those new drivers soon! So we wait...

You're right, the Aardvark 24/96 is a great product. We'd just like to leave Win9x behind us. And I'm not wild about M-Audio's offerings. Drivers are solib but their Mixer is confusing. Aardvark's Mixer is so much more powerful after you get the hang of it.

After all, it's all about the music! Appreciate your feedback.

A lot of what I write is wishful thinking, but Aardvark's track record for quality products has been good. - I am waiting for the GSIF driver before I make the leap to XP. - I also am using a MOTU 828 with a PIII laptop. on win 2000. After I got the most recent drivers, it has worked pretty well. I like the 24/96 better, however. - of course, it's not portable.
