I'm not sure which other forum I could ask this so I'll ask it here. I'm interested in purchasing a Creamware Luna II soundcard. I did a search for it here at the Sweetwater site and found no listing for it or any other Creamware product.

Does anyone here have experience with the Luna II? I'd like to know about the software included with it. The Creamware site is somewhat vague about this stuff plus I'd like to get actual user feedback on it.

My other question, perhaps for a Sweetwater Rep to answer, is will you be carrying the Luna II soundcard anytime soon or other Creamware products? Can you provide info on it or will I have to call Sweetwater to get info?[B]

I'm sorry, we do not carry Creamware. About 3 years ago, I worked at another retailer that picked up the Creamware line... Although I can no publically state my true feelings about Creamware, I will say that my studio was down for six months and lost thousands and thousands of dollars because of them. I can not comment on our company policy about Creamware because honestly, I really don't know where we stand. All I can comment is on my personal experience with past products and their company as they were then from my employment with another retailer at that time. I'm NOT a fan of their product-line at all and never will be..... take that as you will, go buy their product if you really feel it's the best solution for you.

I'd have to recommend staying away from their stuff as your primary I/O. Creamware stuff is not very PCI-efficient, and this creates problems on a lot of people's computers. To get the full functionality of their routing and DSP, as well, you have to run their software environment next to your DAW.
Creamware soft synths sound amazing to me, but the only way I'd use their stuff is to have a separate PC just for it to live in, and treat it as a separate instrument.

I'm not with SW, by the way, but I would venture that if they don't carry it there's a good reason.

I'm glad you guys brought this up. It adds to my arsenal of Creamware info (or user opinions which I'm after). Actually, I've heard, though I'm not sure how factual it is, that Creamware and Mac's don't mix well. I'm on a PC though. Hopefully there wouldn't be much conflict there.

SteveFortner, I envisioned my use of the Luna II as a self contained studio. I mean that seems to be the main selling point. I don't particularly plan on using it for recording bands or much live intrumentation. At most, I'd use it with Reason if that's possible, which I understand it is.

BradLyons, If you don't mind me asking how long ago was this ordeal and what Creamware product was it?

On a unrelated note, I do have a question about "blowout" products here at Sweetwater. How firm are the prices listed for the demo items? Is SW flexible there?

AMDO... as for Creamware, I'll have to talk to you off-line about that, I don't want to get busted for my remarks :-) It was about 3-4 years ago... but if a company can't be honest over and over and over again, sorry... well I'll leave it at that. As far as pricing goes, understand that our website is only a tool for our clients to monitor. Due to the incredible amount of business we do daily (anywhere from $200,000 - $400,000+ per day!!) and our website is updated nightly, products that show up online may not be available and ones that are not online may have just come in. It's best to have a good working relationship with a Sales Engineer here at Sweetwater. Are you currently a Sweetwater customer? If not (and even if you are), give me a call at (800)222-4700x1362 and I'll talk to you about your needs.
