Plextor 24/10/40 CD-RW

Charlie,
P3... You sure? 1st, Add more RAM. That M/B only goes to 512 Megs RAM. Asus makes good M/B's. PC133 SDRAM is OK. Price is right on PC133 RAM. (1) 512 MEG stick of PC133, that's it. You ok with that?

Consider a Dual Display Video Card, not a game card. Maybe Matrox or ATI. Either are ok with Win2000. Not so happy always on Win98SE.

Plextor CD-RW, best choice. They're burn-proof... http://www.buildorbuy.net/burn-proof.html

O/S: Win98SE or Win2000. Win2000 more stable over the long haul. Win98SE was ok.

Cubase 32... Cubase NX just announced @ Musikmesse.

I made the mistake of building a DAW on Asus with WinMe... BIG mistake with WinME. Not the O/S so much as other stuff would lock the boot process. Took too much time to diagnose and fix. Never could get any audio work done on that PC!

You'll have a nice system on this platform you've listed. May need to add 3rd drive later if you get into GigaStudio.

Cool Edit Pro... Have you looked into Sonic Foundry Sound Forge or SF Vegas Video? Even when the O/S was a mess, SF products always perform well. Looping... DJ, you gotta take a looke @ SF Acid Pro! I know I'm hooked! Have been since Comdex - Acid pH1!

So how do you like Midiman Omni Studio? Specs look good, mic preamps and all.

Hope this helps.
