Music Collaboration Via the Internet

I am a Digital Performer user and I was just wondering if anyone has done any music collaboration over the internet with other users. I have read about people doing it but haven't done it yet. It's an interesting concept. How many times have you needed a killer guitar, bass, vocal, keyboard track, etc. but can't find any one you know that can help? Maybe the genre you need isn't their style or maybe they just aren't polished enough on their playing. For whatever reason you need the tracks. As a matter of fact I'm working on a song right now requiring some Sade/Seal type guitar tracks. All of my friends are either rockers or alternative players. They made an attempt but their parts just don't sit right. Can anyone give me some good advice on this subject???
