OK, go EASY on me, this may be an utterly stupid question for you guys, but is a FireWire adapter used if your PC doesn't initially have an installed FireWire port? And if so, how is it therefore connected to your PC. (This is all concerning connecting a Motu 828 with a PC laptop that possibly may not have a FireWire port by the way.)
Lots of help appreciated!:(

Our motto, "The only stupid question is the one not asked." With that, not sure of your Q... 1394 FireWire on a Desktop, probably not included nor required unless using a MOTU 1394 FireWire ProAudio interface. Does that answer your Q?

OK, Firewire add-on cards must be approved by MOTU. Better?

1394 FireWire on a Laptop, included on Sony VAIO Laptops. 1394 FireWire adapters are available for other laptops on the PCMCIA cards.

For the Desktop - 1394 FireWire PCI Card required. Also - goes in a Bus Mastering Slot! Does that do it?

Also... on a PC, O/S specific! Win98SE and above.
